Take a break then repeat this exercise. As you continue to do these exercises on a regular basis, you will notice your ability to deal with headwind will improve.
Cycling in windy is not that terrible because it is rather better than in the rain or snow. If you wear the right cycling clothes, you’ll make it.
Well, many people like cycling. And many like to think about cycling. In fact, cycling is not always fun according to my several cycling trips. Here I’m going to talk about this and yes, I think you should look at this before you go, this will help you a lot.
This is about my cycling trip last week. I went on a six day trip with my friends. The basic itinerary was designed by my friends until the morning of Day Five when I turned tail and cycled back to the Netherlands on my own. For sustenance, my friends did a lot camp cooking and we had a few cafe stops for beer. For shelter, I camped for five nights and then booked a fancypants hotel in Spa with a private funicular to the Spa.
It sounds not bad so far, huh? However, here it comes the bad part; I really learned a few things that will help on my next trips:
First is that travelling and camping with friends IS fun! But watch out for trashy loud birthday parties and lumberjacks at the campsites.
Make sure you have a route in your mind even if you don’t have a map. I like to know where I am or where I’m going, even if I don’t plan the route. Maps are wonderful. I should have rigged up this sooner.
Please remember that hills are hard. Don’t attack them, take it easy and go slowly in the granny gear. Singing also helps. This makes it almost fun and definitely embarrassing when racers pass you. But remember, they are on bicycles that weigh less than one of your bags.
The last thing is that carrying 24 kilos of wet tent over monster hills in the rain without a good night’s sleep is actually NOT fun. No amount of singing will help, it’s best to just get through it. Remember for next time: One challenge is more than enough! Carry less stuff OR book a hotel OR travel in dry flat desert countries.
Yeah, these are all of my experiences last week. I did enjoy my trip, though it is somehow tough.
I’m pretty sure this is one of the most frequently asked questions for most cyclists. Why are you love to cycling so much? Well, for me, the answer is I don’t know. I just like the feeling that I’m on the road. I’m traveling to my dreams. However, I do have some reasons.

The bike you’re on, the kit you wear, how your legs move, whether you hide your shortness of breath, people can learn a lot about each other by the how/why/what/which and with whom you ride. Gestures, nodding, appreciative glances and admonishing expletives are universally understood. Cycling has no borders.
What’s more, every ride, every training session and every race builds in you an incremental improvement. Every poor performance, disappointment and failure has the opportunity to be wiped clean. Tomorrow is another day, a whole new race, with a new winner, a new set of legs and an opportunity to test oneself again. Manage the disappointment, find satisfaction in the details and you have a slice of delicious pudding every single time.
The last and the most important thing about cycling is that in no other way than riding can one replicate the feeling of building up your bike after a long day of travel and setting forth in a new place to discover, explore, and experience: you can descend down a mountain like a thrilling escape from fiends; hear the sound of just your breath as you take on a climb; and meander through new streets like a stranger who’s not out of place.
Cycling is definitely awesome. The feeling of traveling is also great. So if you really like cycling, just stick to it.
